What does Gentle Fluidity Silver smell like?

Gentle Fluidity Silver came out in 2019, a unisex scent composed by Francis Kurkdjian. Juniper berries, coriander and pink pepper open it. A heart of nutmeg, white musk and geranium follows, and the base is amber, woody notes and vanilla. The catalogue files its accords as aromatic, woody, fresh spicy, musky and amber.

On the house's page, Silver is the cooler edition of the pair: nutmeg and ambery woods in front, a juniper top in the spirit of a gin fizz, fresher and drier overall. Vanilla is on the list, but at the bottom rather than the centre. Hold on to that when a pick below is described as sweeter.

Silver or Gold?

At the house, the two editions share one list of ingredients: vanilla, musks, coriander, nutmeg, ambery woods and juniper berries. Proportion is what separates them. Silver puts the nutmeg and the ambery woods up front. Gentle Fluidity Gold pushes coriander seed, musks and vanilla harder for a warmer, more enveloping trail. Varakh Silver by Fragrance World takes first place on two counts: the accounts behind it, and a euro list price. On its Fragrantica page, a member who wears Silver every day finds Varakh Silver almost all there. Parfumo keeps a comparison page for the two as well.

The main difference is texture. That daily wearer finds it a little woodier and drier. A second Fragrantica member finds its opening greener and more herbal, missing the light, fruity sweetness of the original.

It suits someone who already enjoys Silver's dry side and wants a 100ml bottle to wear without counting sprays. It rests on a named source: two Fragrantica members' write-ups, with Parfumo's comparison page alongside.

Closest on the dry-down: Silver Fluid

Silver Fluid by The Dua Brand earns this slot on one buyer's report. On Dua's page for it, a buyer who owns a decant of the original finds the opening very close and the middle more pungent, with both settling into a similar soft skin scent at the end. The main difference is density. A member of a Parfumo forum thread who owns both finds the original airier and more finely tuned, and Silver Fluid denser and a little edgier, with slightly more juniper.

Gentle Silver by Montagne Parfums is, in Montagne's own description, inspired by Gentle Fluidity Silver. On Parfumo's comparison page for this pair, members rate its sillage a little below Silver's and its longevity slightly below, so it should sit closer to the skin.

The main difference is in the list. Going by the house's description, bergamot and pineapple are additions that Silver does not carry, and we found no wearer's account on a stable source that says how the two compare on skin.

Fresher take: CK Everyone Eau de Parfum

CK Everyone Eau de Parfum by Calvin Klein is not a clone. In a Parfumo write-up, one member finds it very refreshing and says it really reminds them of Silver.

The main difference is the whole note list. Parfumo's comparison page gives it orange, tea and vetiver, and not one of Silver's listed notes. Whatever resemblance that member notices lies in the overall impression, not in shared materials.

Premium alternative: Îles d'Or

Îles d'Or by Molinard is the second pick here that is not a clone. Parfumo runs a comparison page between Silver and the 2022 Îles d'Or. In the same Parfumo forum thread, a member suggests it as a lower-priced alternative to Silver. Of the three entries here with a euro price, its bottle costs the most.

The main difference is independence: Molinard's scent stands on its own, and the forum member who puts it forward says plainly that it is no twin. Expect a family likeness rather than a match.

Granada by Widian comes up in a Fragrantica forum thread where members look for Silver alternatives. One calls it very close in profile. Another, who wore both on skin, finds Granada sweeter and more like grapefruit.

The main difference is fruit and sugar, and the evidence is contested. A member writing on Granada's Fragrantica page, smelling both at once, sees some resemblance but finds the two quite different.

It suits someone who finds Silver too dry and would welcome a sweeter, more citrus-tinted take, knowing that opinion on it is split. The forum thread and one member's comparison are the named sources here, dissent included.

Where the Silver picks drift

Two of the six are not clones at all. CK Everyone shares none of Silver's listed notes, and the forum member who backs Îles d'Or calls it no twin. Read them as related perfumes, not stand-ins.

The four clones drift in different directions. Two Fragrantica members find Varakh Silver woodier, drier or greener. Silver Fluid reads more pungent in the middle to one buyer, and denser and edgier to a forum owner. Gentle Silver has no wear report on record yet, and Granada leans sweeter and toward grapefruit for one forum member.

A clone bottle or a Silver decant?

Counted per ml, every entry with a euro price undercuts the original by a wide margin. Varakh Silver comes as a 100ml, CK Everyone as a 50ml and Îles d'Or as a 75ml. Silver Fluid, Gentle Silver and Granada had no EU list price when the prices were checked, so their rows in the table carry none. Silver itself costs €40.23 as a 10ml decant, or €4.02/ml; the 30ml, around 600 sprays, comes in at €100.80, or €3.36/ml.

Counted per choice, the picture reverses. The 3ml, around 60 sprays, is €15.48, lower than any of those three bottles. Authentic perfumes in Silver's fresh, woody vein

Three originals overlap with Silver. Gentle Fluidity Gold is the warmer edition from the same house, described above. Himalaya by Creed, from 2002, opens on bergamot, grapefruit and lemon over sandalwood, then settles on musk, ambergris and cedar; its listed accords include all five of Silver's. Dior Homme Sport, a 2022 Dior, pairs bergamot, aldehydes and lemon with elemi and pink pepper over woody notes, olibanum and amber, sharing Silver's pink pepper, woody notes and amber.

How to test a Gentle Fluidity Silver dupe

Silver's clones divide opinion at the start and in the middle: one buyer finds Silver Fluid's heart more pungent, and one Fragrantica member finds Varakh Silver's opening greener. Give Gentle Fluidity Silver a day of its own, then the clone the day after, on skin, and listen for three things: whether the juniper and coriander top stays crisp, whether the nutmeg and geranium heart turns sharp, and whether the amber and vanilla base dries down soft.
